Taupo is located 84km south of Rotorua,155km north west of Napier,
381km north east of Wellington and 287km south east of Auckland.
Lake Taupo
Lake Taupo is the biggest lake in New Zealand and was created by a volcanic
explosion about 1800 years ago. It has a depth at the centre of about 160m
and is roughly the same size as Singapore.
On the southern shore of Lake Taupo is the beautiful Tongariro Natonal Park.
There are three mountains there, Ruapehu, Ngauruhoe and Tongariro.
Ruapehu is the most active volcano in New Zealand and has recorded more than 20 eruptions
in the past 100 years.
All three mountains provide a great deal of recreation with skiing in the winter and tramping,
camping and fishing in the summer.
The park cover 75,227 hectares and was establoshed as a national park in 1987.
These mountains provide the central North Islands with most of its water. The mountains create over 40 streams and rivers and empty into Lake Taupo and then into the Waikato River witch travels 360km north towards Auckland. The connecting point between Lake Taupo and Waikato River is the beautiful Huka Fall.
ATTRACTIONS
Trout fishing, sailing, cruising, water skiing, swimming, diving, skydiving, bungy jumping, jet boating ,
horse riding, golf, scenic flights , tennis, hot springs and many other activities.
Tourist often combine a trip to Taupo with one to nearby Rotorua.

Tongariro is located in between Auckland and Wellington where has got capital of New Zealand.
Approximately 350km to the both ends.Tongariro was established in 1987 as National Park with 75,227 hectare of the area.
Tongariro National Park has got big three mountains Ruapehu, Ngauruhoe, Tongariro.
Especially Ruapehu is one of the most active volcano in New Zealand which recorded more than 20 times eruption in last 100 years.
Mount Ruapehu has world famous ski field as well.
There are providing quite good satisfaction with first graded powder snow.
