Introduction
New Zealand was discovered by the great explorer, Captain James Cook in 1769.
New Zealand has three main islands, North Island, South Island and Stewart Island.
The total length of the three island is 1700km.
The majority of the 3.52 million people live in the North Island.

There are approximately 1 milion people living in or near Auckland,
2.2 milion people in the rest of North Island and 0.72 milion people in the South Island.
The remainder of population lives on one of the many small islands.
Agriculture is very important in New Zealand.
The countryside has over 70 million sheep.
New Zealand is famous for its unspoiled scenic beauty.
